TXNAP Texas Nonpartisan Accountability Project

Launching before the 90th Legislature opens · Jan 12, 2027

What Texas leaders promise. What they do. What changes.

TXNAP is an independent, nonpartisan record of Texas state government. Every number links to the official source. Every official, from every party, is held to the same rules.

What we track

Four public records, kept side by side

Actions and outcomes are tracked separately, because a law being signed and a problem getting better are not the same thing.

01

Promises

Commitments from official platforms, each turned into a test with a measure and a deadline.

02

Actions

Bills, every legislator's recorded votes, vetoes, executive orders, appointments and the budget.

03

Outcomes

Spending, crime, schools, health coverage, taxes, jobs and more, shown against the trend and other states.

04

Money

Campaign donations and lobbying for every official we track, from state filings.

How we stay nonpartisan

The yardsticks come first. The results come later.

We publish our measures before anyone takes office, so no one can move the goalposts after the fact, including us.

  1. Primary sources onlyEvery figure links to the agency dataset, bill or filing it came from. No press releases as evidence.
  2. Measures set in advanceBaselines and promise tests are public before inauguration and are never quietly changed.
  3. Same rules for every partyIdentical wording, charts and standards for every official. We report what happened, not whether a policy is good.
  4. Context, not snapshotsEach number is shown with its long-term trend and fixed comparison states, so national swings aren't credited or blamed on Texas.
  5. Both sides' concernsWe track what the winners promised and what the losing side warned would get worse.
  6. Corrections in publicEvery fix is dated and explained, and the earlier version stays visible.
